2009 Fisher House This year we are raising money for the Fisher House. This wonderful organization provides lodging for the families of servicemen who have been wounded and are being treated in hospitals back in the States. The Fisher House allows their families to stay at their facilities for a nominal fee and thus avoid the cost of typical hotel accommodations. 2007 Donations In 2007, we hope to raise a few dollars to contribute even more to the Scholarship Fund we created in 2006 as well as being able to again contribute to the Community Music School program that we donated to at the second Marathon Jam. Contributions can be made to either charity at the Jam or you can download a form HERE that lets people make a pledge based on how long you play at the Marathon Jam 2006. We raised close to $1,000 in 2005 for this effort. 2006 Donation We raised money for scholarships to be given in Keith and Toni Carroll's son's name and in honor of Keith's dad who passed last year. sadly, Jim Dennis' dad passed away in 2006 and we added the name J.R. Dennis to that scholarship award. 2005 Donations We gave ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS to the Shepp Wasdell Teaching Excellence
Award at Apex high school and FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS to the Raleigh community music school that provides instruments and lessons to kids
Community Music School - The Community Music School is a group of musicians in Raleigh who started a music school to serve financially challenged families in Wake County. They offer private lessons to low-income children who receive instruction and guidance from professional musicians, and provide instruments for student use. A pledge card can be downloaded by clicking HERE. Please fill it out and bring it with you to the jam, or just bring some cash or a check and look for the Tip Jar at the Jam. |
